Welcome to From Lens to Brush, a collection where the clarity of photography meets the lyricism of Chinese watercolor painting.
As a lifelong photographer, my work begins with the lens, but it rarely ends there. Photography has long been my way of exploring motion, emotion, and abstraction—capturing moments not as they are, but as they feel. In From Lens to Brush, I take that exploration one step further. Drawing inspiration from the gentle expressiveness of Chinese watercolor, I have reinterpreted select photographs through digital tools that emulate the flow of brush and ink.
Each piece in this gallery begins as one of my original photographs—captured over years of global travel, observing fleeting moments, culture, light, and gesture. Using these tools, I can now emulate the expressive style of traditional Chinese ink painting, reimagining images into poetic watercolors.
This series is not meant to imitate, but to honor. Inspired by the naïve charm and soft fluidity of ink wash traditions, I breathe new life into my images—shifting from documentation to reinterpretation. This transformation is guided not only by machine, but by tradition, memory, and composition.
It must be noted that these works are not simulations, but translations. This is where light becomes wash, motion becomes gesture, and story becomes texture. Each image is rooted in my original photography and intentionally and intuitively guided to its end.
I see this process not as a departure from photography, but a continuation. A way to soften time, dissolve the boundaries of realism, and rediscover moments through a new visual language. Whether blurred, painted, or pixelated, my aim remains the same: to evoke a feeling that lingers longer than the image itself.
Each image will be offered with a Certificate of Authenticity as a signed, Limited Edition series of 4. All are printed in Germany to ensure the highest archival quality.
